Our frequency

GrensFrequentie is an initiative of young professionals within the music industry, driven by a passion for musical experimentation, collaboration, and artistic development. We strive for professionalism and advocate a social vision centered on openness and accessibility for all. Our community welcomes a diverse range of creators and provides space for both artistic expression and personal growth.

What do we do?

At our location, where we have various spaces for creative activities, we focus on the development of individual creators as well as the music scene in Enschede as a whole. We encourage experimentation and embrace the raw edge in our approach to music and art. We leave our mark on Enschede through events, residencies, and networking meet-ups.

ORGANIZATION

This is our team

GrensFrequentie is built on its residents and volunteers, but the core team consists of four freelancers, all of whom live and/or work in Enschede. They have been involved in the project since its inception and, in addition to GrensFrequentie, also work for various other cultural organizations.

Community & Partners Coordinator

Puck Finkers

24, Enschede

As a musician, finding your way to behind the scenes basically happens after every show. What doesn’t happen very often is that you have a better time there than on stage. This is the path Puck took while studying at the ArtEZ Conservatory of Music. Fortunately, the love was mutual and, after working as tour manager with Jett Rebel and Silke Veld, among others, Puck has now chosen the coordination of GrensFrequency as a challenge. Her passion lies in organizing and thinking along with the plans of artists and creative projects. In this way, she creates the best possible experience for both artist and audience.

Sam de Laat

23, Enschede

Since 3 years Sam is on a crusade to change the landscape of Dutch pop music. Together with his band Droom Dit they are the living proof that from Enschede all eyes in the Netherlands can be drawn to you. Everything that makes them is hyper autobiographical in nature; metaphors are allowed out the door, Sam tells their story in an unfiltered and raw way. Dream This received rave reviews from the likes of Dancing Bears, Festileaks and a coveted number one spot on VPRO 3voor12’s “25 best acts of Noorderslag 2024” list.

Nadia Nellestein

23, Enschede

Nadia is a songwriter, singer, multi instrumentalist, producer, producer, language developer … well, what isn’t she? As the front woman of Nelles and the other half of Hot Couple, she regularly sets stages on fire. Besides the stage, she doesn’t have to get bored either, as her work with the Kunstbende and Popronde keep her schedule well filled. Yet she can still be found in her studio almost every day where she writes one day, records drums the next and then spends another day producing her own songs.

Kees Huitink

23, Enschede

Kees is a producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Active in the projects Dream This, Better Life and formerly Oh Whale, he has formed over his studies at the ArtEZ Conservatory of Music into a cutting and experimental guitarist. Still, he prefers to stick the label “artist” on his work. In fact, in addition to raging on strings, he also engages in visual art. This has manifested itself in album covers and merchandise for the projects he is involved in. In his studio, he works day in and day out to perfect his compositions, which will soon find their way to our ears.

Rieks Bolhuis

26, Enschede

Rieks is what is called a “cultural glutton”. When something interesting happens in Enschede, chances are that Rieks has something to do with it. Besides his musical expressions as Rixle Blue and one half of Hot Couple, he is involved as coordinator for Nieuwe Electronische Waar, he is one of the founders of Nightclub Collective Enschede (NiCE) and he is also programmer of the Green festival.

Rimme Rutten

26, Enschede

Rimme has something to say about everything, so the position as front person fits him like a glove. After having been active in the band ‘Oh Whale’ in recent years, he is now storming all stages in Overijssel with his apocalyptic formation ‘Beter Leven’. He sees himself as a creator. Besides making music and creating visual art, he also made himself angry. The outflow of musical talent from Enschede was way too high! So when he found Puck in the fourth year of their studies at the ArtEZ Conservatory as a united soul, there was: Border Frequency. With the goal of putting Enschede on the map as a vibrant hotspot, he threw himself fully into the coordinatorship.

Our residents

Our regular residents work in studios on their daily lives as musicians, from songwriting and production to social media and management.

Additionally, they are closely involved in the development of GrensFrequentie. They are our ambassadors outside the walls, our ears and eyes in the city, and drivers of the community. Each one of them is deeply rooted in the Enschede music scene.
