We are proud to announce that starting January 2025, ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede, GrensFrequentie, and the Booster Festival will join forces to repurpose the former Vestzak Theater on Walstraat. Under the name Vestzak, this unique venue will transform into an auditory laboratory: a space where experimentation, creation, and presentation come together. It will offer opportunities for musicians, local initiatives, and educational programs to collaborate and grow.

A Unique Collaboration Between Three Cultural Pioneers

The creation of Vestzak is a testament to the power of collaboration. ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede needed more creative space for its growing student body and projects. GrensFrequentie sought a venue for residencies and presentations after a successful initial phase. Meanwhile, the Booster Festival aimed to focus on innovative performances. When Concordia stepped away from its theater functions, a unique opportunity arose to merge these ambitions in the former Vestzak Theater. Over coffee on a sunny afternoon, the idea was born and quickly developed into a concrete plan.

What Makes Vestzak Special?

At Vestzak, creating, experimenting, and developing are at the forefront. It will serve as a creative hub where musicians, students, educators, and cultural partners collaborate on a diverse program. Think residencies, try-outs, masterclasses, open mics, listening sessions, and unexpected collaborations. Existing initiatives will also continue, aiming to offer a rich and inspiring program for both creators and audiences.

Vestzak Fuels Enschede’s Cultural Growth

Vestzak aligns perfectly with Enschede’s cultural evolution. From educational programs and music venues to festivals and talent houses, the city increasingly provides opportunities for emerging creators. Vestzak contributes by offering facilities and opportunities that attract and retain talent in Enschede. It will become a home base where creativity and growth thrive.

When Can You Experience the First Events?

Starting January 2025, the organization will begin setting up Vestzak. The first programs are expected to be open to the public by the end of February. The long-term goal is to host 80 events annually, ranging from intimate try-outs to larger shows. Soon, the public can find more information and view the first agendas via www.vestzakenschede.nl.

We are excited to make Vestzak a vibrant and inspiring venue. Together with ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede, Booster Festival, and all local creators, we invite you to be part of this journey starting in 2025. See you at Vestzak!
